hello, community,

I am playing around unleashed/r600 dpsk, the firmware version is 200.7, but I am confuse of "limit-dpsk" option.

limit-dpsk-option.jpg

I have created a wlan, enable "limit D-PSK generation per user to 4 devcies", but Only one device could associated with the ssid. When the other one(android) tried to associated, it would pop up a message: wrong password.

so what does limit-dpsk option mean, how to use it?

I would like to
1. enable a unique psk to be use on 4 devices. the 5th one will be rejected.
2. The psk will be distributed to user by manual.

Just some notes on powering the 730 APs with unleashed using a POE switch. I have a 7150-C12p switch and it does not support POE bt. However, you can allocate 30+W of power to the port and then force the AP into bt power mode through the unleashed UI. This seems to work fine all all features are enabled.

The R730 will want 802.3bt for power. You can run it with a cheap 30W 1Gb injector, but I found my R730 always eventually trained down to 1Gb whereas my R650s would happily stay at 2.5Gb forever. So I bought a 2.5Gb PoE switch.
I had issues with 802.3bt as well. However, it was before crossflash so it could be an issue of r730 SOLO. Finally. I decided to use DC power instead of PoE.

Would this r730 -> 850 hack be worth it to make it a dedicated master, and place that in the server room? What would be the benefits?
I think it's important to mention that only another r850/r750 can be used for redundancy. In other words, without this feature, any AP can take over a master role but with this option, you must have a second dedicated r850/r750.
As it was mentioned before, it is a replacement for a controller, and, for home usage, is useless. I'm building a WiFi net for my friend in a hotel and decided to not enable it as well. However, you can disable radios on the master AP without enabling a dedicated master.

It's a feature of some switches, not standard.

And now a question. Maybe somebody knows.

I got two used T610 and want to install them in school there I have a small WiFi net on R710/R610.

With the first one, there were not any issues: factory reset, login, flash unleashed firmware

However, I can't get access to the second one at all:
  • it created a new WiFi SSID: island-xxxxxx (according to mac address)
    • I was able to connect using the serial number as a WiFi password
    • However, there is no DHCP server and I don't know what IP should I use
  • it requested an IP address from a DHCP server
  • if no DHCP server, he accepts pings to 192.168.0.1
  • all ports are close
    • even 22 SSH: connections refused
    • even 80/443
TCP dump:

IP 0.0.0.0.bootpc > broadcasthost.bootps: BOOTP/DHCP, Request from 18:4b:0d:27:75:40 (oui Unknown), length 548
LLDP, length 165: RuckusAP

Unleashed can not take it.

After the factory reset, nothing happened except it rebooted: the PWR indicator changed to red, then started to blink, and after releasing the button it rebooted.

I'm thinking of installing a virtual controller to proxmox.

What can I do?

Would this be possible (forcing 30+ W) for the POE version of the ICX6450 or the ICX6610?

I'm looking to set up a couple of R730. Just out of interest are you running them on 1G PoE or 1G PoE to power them and then the other port for 2.5-5G data? (I.E are you using both connectors, one for data and another one for power?)

Just got my 730 flashed it with 850 software much better than the 610 that i bought for around the same price even though im only feeding it poe+ with the clients i have its within 200 mbps of my wired desktop. Most likely gonna refund my 610 and get another 730 !

Is the r730 better in terms of wifi coverage or stability, vis a vis the R610?

Been using it a whole 12 hours, all of my devices even the downstairs one won't even use the 610 because the 730 even tho it's upstairs signal is so strong the 2.4 and 5ghz devices. I'm in a older home, around 1800 Sq feet. This thing has been very solid. I will need to invest into either injectors or a more powerful switch as my switch can only do 30 watt Max but haven't had any poe issues or bugs even though I forced it to use poe++ or 802.3bt. Haven't tried to use it as a dedicated master. Might not need to get a second AP lol two 730s might be over kill. But the price for the 610 I got was around 60 USD and the 730 I got for 80 USD much worth upgrade.

Many clients will not connect to an AP with a strong 802.11ac signal if a mediocre 802.11ax signal is available (and likewise they prefer 802.11ac over 802.11n). So definitely worth ditching the R610 for another WiFi6 AP.

That makes sense, I was expecting the devices to refer which one is closer to them but it seems the 730 overpowers the 610 in all bands.

Also I got mine from US ebay. Ruckus R730 901-R730-US00 Wireless Access Point | eBay

Even came with mounting bracket
