I have 2U Supermicro 825mtq chassis with dual PWS-702A-1R. The PSU's are quite noisy, is it possible replace these with some gold rated or SQ models? Or should I just get a another Supermicro 2U chassis?

Yes!!
get platinum or SQ model

it reduces noise much, but not quite as desktop PSU

I have4 SM case with 500W Platinum....

500W or 740W 0r 920W platinum should be good candidate
rule of thumb, use 40% or less on rated power max,the psu fan is humming quitely :) *louder then Desktop PSU definetly*

you can see detail list on SM site ->
Super Micro Computer, Inc. | Support

SM is very good on cataloging their parts :D.

PWS-920P-1R <- platinum 920W
PWS-920P-SQ <- platinum 920W , more quiete than regular 920P platinum :p
PWS-741P-1R <= platinum 740W
PWS-501P-1R <= platinum 500W

remember simple rule of thumb, usee less than 40% of rated power, since the fan will ramps up it's rpm ~ 7000-10000rpm max that depends on platinum model
