I'm looking to Rent Computational Server for my hobby Prime hunting doing PRP tests using FFT algorithms. My current 20 cores in house is not enough :)

Wanted to Rent: 16+ Physical Cores Xeon E5 generation or newer. ~ 12GB RAM
Xeon v3 or Haswell or newer is ideal for the new FMA3 instruction. DDR4 even better.

Ubuntu 16.04, user level access by ssh w/python, htop, beanstalk.
We can do a 2w or 1 month term to start prepaid.

Anyone have spare capacity to rent or can recommend a low cost provider for a computation workload?

Edit: Say $120 / month total for 32 cores.

I can offer colocation for around 40$/U but the only thing I could offer for 50$/m is probably a Dual L5420 with 24gb machine.

thanks, I was hoping for someone with excess capacity in their homelab. You get to tell the wife, I'm profiting from that homelab :)

Netcup.de offers 8 dedicated cores from a E5-2680V4 cores at $52/month although they turned off turboboost. AWS spot instances are fast but the c4.large gives you 1 physical core (2 HT) and the extra management of terminating instances. My workload needs physical cores.

I might have you covered. I don't run anything on my servers. They're just humming along in the corner of my room. Ill pull specs and shoot you a PM.

thanks, responded PM.

1 Server paid, 1 more server online ~1 week. User: Doctor
Looking for more Cores.

  • Virtualization is ok (for example tested, HyperV, VMware, ...).
  • Ubuntu 16.04 minimal, apt install python htop wget, do full updates
  • I'll provide ECC SSH key (Optional: so you can disable ssh password login)

Preferred, but not required
  • Enable Intel Turbo Core
  • Setup Max performance CPU and RAM options in the BIOS (Not balanced)

Hello,

I might be able to rent u a virtualized Ubuntu VM with ur requirements ( Hyper-V ).

It's my homelab and runs mostly Idle.. but going on vacation next month so it will be underutilized.

Specs:
  • 2x E5-2650v3
  • 128GB DDR4 2133Mhz RAM
  • VMStorage ( 2x P3700 800GB NVME + 7x 2TB Platters for Cold storage) - Storage Tiering
  • Windows 2012 R2 Datacenter
  • Custom Power Plan: Individual Core boosts, quick up/down throttling.. performance similar to High Performance but with better power saving.
Network:
  • pfSense
  • 500 / 500 Up/down
Current utilization:
  • ~16% of 40x @2.20Ghz
  • 42% @ 128GB RAM
Sent me a PM if ur interested, can do some tests firs too... cuz it's summer here so gotta test the temps etc.
