Anyone bought any of those HDDs on Amazon that are sold as renewed? Wondering if they're worth it or if it's just a scam.

Renewed, as in "we wiped the smart data, gave it a wash and shave and it's now as good as new?" ;)
Save your money and go look for genuine manufacturer's re-certified disks. They are a little more expensive, but worth every penny and will come with some warranty you can trust :)

I actually purchased 2 20TB WD HC560 and received them today. They're marked on the drives as "manufacturer recertified" and they come with a 2 year warranty from ServerPartDeals. I'm currently running extended SMART tests and other tests to make sure there are no bad sectors, etc. The only complaint I have so far is that they're a little noisy but the dates for the drives show Feb. 2024. I'll circle back around and if they have any problems. I'm going to be using them in a DS1621+; previously I shucked WD 10TB Elements for my last NAS in 2019 and I've only had one drive go bad in all that time (which was outside the 2yr WD warranty anyway). Hopefully these are just as good, they carry the same warranty (albeit from ServerPartDeals).

I've had good experience with ServerPartDeals drives in general and with their WD recertified drives in particular.
They'd being around for a while, so their warranty also has some value.

I’ve grabbed a renewed HDD from Amazon before. It worked fine for me—looked pretty much like new, no issues so far. But honestly, it's a bit of a gamble since you don’t know the drive’s history or how much wear it has. Check the return policy just in case!
