I am looking to setup a Proxmox system to run Home Assistant, Plex (just 1-2 streams), Blue Iris (external or NAS storage), and a bunch of docker containers to support Home Assistant and Plex. I would like it to be very quiet and energy efficient at idle. If the fan needs to speed up to run some load and then slow back to idle I am okay with that.
It would be nice to be able to add a 10GB connection for internal backups, etc. but not a deal breaker if I can't.
Likely would install 64GB of ram and need 1 NVMe SSD slot.
There are so many options it is overwhelming! I would say my budget is around $500. But I am happy to spend more if it there are significant improvements in the price/performance/efficiency curve. Would a8th generation be sufficient? AMD Ryzen?
