Hi,

I am looking to purchase a set of new SATA HGST/WD Ultrastar hard drives.

Which ones would you recommend - I've used the HGST SATA CMR drives before, and had good experience with them. Are the new Helium drives any good (I've read once the Helium leaks out completely, the drives are useless), or should I stick to the standard HGST/WD Ultrastar 8 TB drives (which seems to be the highest capacity available that is not Helium filled)?

Thanks,

Kind regards

I only have experience with Seagate
- warranty is transferable and fixed to serial number
- fw was avialable not locked behind support contract (Exos,Ironwolf)

Is the leaking of Helium problem still a problem? I would guess during warranty it isnt. You could run into problem if you would use He filled drive as offline backup and forgot about them.
