Raid 50 vs Raid 6

In term of performance and reliability which one of the 2 would you prefer ?
I have a 16x 2TB system that will serve as ISCSI targets and also general file server.
From preliminary testing raid 6 seems to be faster overall (adaptec 5805 controller).
Not sure why, but for some reason crystaldiskmark reporting slower read than write, but atto shows otherwise.

Any input is much appreciated.

With 2TB drives, a 14+2 RAID 6 is really big, and pushing the boundaries that I'd be comfortable with. Risk of a triple disk failure are more likely.

2x 7+1 RAID 5 arrays is probably even worse. Personally, the biggest 2TB drive RAID 5 array I'd run would be around 4+1
