I really hate to do this and ask this dreaded question but I wanted to get some opinions before sinking more cash into my little project. I bought an SC512L-260B chassis + mobo for dirt cheap. I planned on turning it into a 1U pfsense box .... everything’s up and working however the whine and noise from the 260W PSU is killing me and is pissing off the wife (enclosed rack but in a room that is more open to the rest of the house).

Is there a quieter PSU I can get ... I know I’ve read the PWS-203-1H is good but its a little rich for my blood at this point. I’ve found a PWS-361-1H on ebay for $25 but can’t find any specs on it and a friend brought up that I might need a supermicro mobo to possibly control the pwm on the fan (currently an intel mobo).

I’m trying to sink as little money as possible all other parts have been reused. If i can’t make it quiet then i’m gonna scrap it or store my raspberry pi & other small items in the case.

I’m open to any idea for a quiet PSU that will fit this case

thanks in advance.
