Quick question about LSI 9206-16e

I'm sure a number of you are familiar with this HBA. It has two LSI 2308 controllers onboard, but unlike the previous versions of this (9201-16e, 9202-16e etc), it does NOT use a PLX switch onboard.

My question is related to passthrough in ESXi for this card. Can the two controllers be passed through separately? i.e. to different VMs? or does the passthrough passthrough the whole card, where only a single VM can use the two controllers?

Appreciate any thoughts/comments.

What a motherboard do you have? i never seen one with 2 controllers. don't mismatch with two ports..

I'm pretty sure the 9206-16e does use a PCIe switch--the PLX PEX8724.

The order, and numbering, of the PCIe enumeration strongly suggests it.

If true, that gives you, at least, the possibility of separate passthrough. You'll need to confirm ...
