Hello.

I am bought bl460c gen10 + m.2 kit (riser + interposer)

Some of the entries alarmed me in quick specs doc

Notes: The HPE Gen10 NVMe FIO Setting (873373-B21) is required to support SFF NVMe SSDs within the system. This option is not compatible with the HPE Smart Array P204i-b,. Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends the use of a dual M.2 solid state drive enablement kit (873870-B21) together with M.2 SSD media for boot when using this option
M.2 drives cannot be mixed with other sizes and capacities within the system
So i have two questions, maybe i misunderstand something

- If i put m.2 ssd in server and sata SSD will be it work or not?
- If i put m.2 ssd for example 4Tb and 1Tbwill be it work or not?

Hi,

I've come across this post slightly late but I thought I'd respond since this post came up whilst searching on Google.

You can have SATA drives in the front whilst also using the M.2 riser. The notes mention the "NVMe FIO setting" that converts the front SATA/SAS drives into NVMe U.2 which is incompatible because it uses a different backplace on the drive cage and also requires a PCA passthrough card where the storage controller would usually sit.

I haven't tested different sized M.2 drives so YMMV.
