I'm having difficulty finding an affordable compatible optical 10Gbps SFP+ for Brocade 6740T switch- The switch comes with 4x 40Gbps ports which can be used either with an adapter or a breakout cable to get 4x SFP+

In my case I want to connect this transceiver to a 10Gbps cross-connect fiber - I found on eBay HP 655902-001 655874-B21 HP MELLANOX QSFP/SFP ADAPTER - which is just a converter - but not sure if it will work if I connect just a regular cisco SFP-10G-SR 10GBASE-SR or equivalent

I'm thinking one of these in the screenshot will be - not sure which one to be used for 10Gbps cross connect at a datacenter - most common / affordable

Any help would be appreciated

Your screenshot is all 40 gig parts. You need a Brocade coded 10G SFP+ probably LR (single mode 1310nm) if at a datacenter, I'd suggest buying from fs.com. Then that would likely work with the adaptor you list.

I have the same problem. I would like to go from a QSFP 40gb port in the back of an ICX6610 to my 25gb capable SFP ConnectX-4 nic. But I can't find an adapter or cable that will do that. Supposedly the QSFP 40gb stacking ports have been re-flashed using instructions here, and they should be able to do 25gb as well. But, it's not working with my QSFP to SFP adapter. The port still shows down.

Instead of dumbing down the switch ports to 25G why not get a proper 40G QSFP+ to 4-10G SFP+breakout cable? (Encoded for Brocade)
Use two Mellanox cards if you need to. LAG them all together..

you can use optical transceivers with that adapter:

40gbe to 25gbe won't work: 40gbe is 4 lanes with 10gbit/s each, 25gbe is 1 lane with 25gbit/s

Thanks i386. I'm still a noob when it comes to all these networking standards. But I am learning. I'm going to order a cheap 40gbe NIC and a cable and try that out. I'm in the experimenting stage. I managed to get everything going from the ground up at 10gb (thanks to foneesha and other members on this forum).

Ok, no real idea of what LAG is? Does that mean configuring both ports on the NIC card to act as one? I have no idea how to do that, but I will look it up. I'm still a noob at this networking stuff. Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread.
