PWM fan speed setting ???

OMG, I am buried in bullshit.

I have a fan speed setting in the BIOS that was set to 255. I assume that 255 is max speed (and max noise). i set it to 125 and it slowed down considerably. But what I want to do is fine tune it (noise / cooling). I assume that PWM speeds are incremental. Is there some scale somewhere I can use as a guide.

All the websites I've found go deep into explaining how PWM works. I don't care how it works, I just want to know what number to set in the BIOS to get what speed percentage.

not defined. depends on the FAN type.
some can stop if PWM is turned off, most run at min. speed.

Thanks. I was able to solve the problem by playing with the numbers. Seems like high number equal high speed and low numbers equal low speed, anything in the middle, take your pic.
