Hi,

I’m not sure if this type of post is allowed, but i’ll ask anyway.

I need another 10GbE NIC and found these rather cheap X540-T1 NICs on ebay.

I want to buy used equipment to save some cash, but don’t want to buy counterfeit if i can help it. Any idea if the link above is legit or not?

It looks legit from the pictures I have googled.

Any ideas?

I'd say legit, chinese fakers don't bother usually with that many decals, also Made in Malaysia, "Intel" company logo, slot bracket looking suspiciously of high quality.

It's probably legit; $60 for X540-T1 is about right, not unrealistically cheap. Dell WDFH0 (there are many other names for OEM X540-T2) have been as low as $11 before (pre-pandemic).

Thanks everyone. I’ve picked up a few and a cheap X550-T2 which covers my 3 servers and my workstation.

I’ve got CAT6A in the walls so i’m good to go. All i’m missing is a switch with layer 3 routing (or maybe VyOs on Proxmox?)

I’ve been looking at the Unifi Enterprise XG 24 (24x 10GbE + 2x SFP28 25Gb) to replace a 24 port 1GbE unifi switch.

Looks like a good switch that integrates right into my existing unify network, but an expensive option and I can’t add ACLs for layer 3 routing which was a major bummer. So I cancelled that order.

PFSense does my inter-vlan routing today, but it’s capped at 1Gbps (Netgate 5100).

All system/node firewalls have a strict policy, so layer 3 ACLs aren’t a must have, but it just feels dumb that layer 3 ACL are not possible on the unifi switch.
