Hi there,

The mobo is equipped with JPI2C1 Power Supply SMBbus I2C Header. The description is:
"Power System Management Bus (I2C) Connector (JI2C1) monitors power supply, fan and system temperatures."
Pinout: 1Clock, 2Data, 3PWR Fail, 4Ground, 5+3.3V

Is it possible to use it with "desktop" PSU like Corsair with iCUE Link?
Is there any supported PSU list?

"yes", but you won't be able to monitor the PSU via IPMI or reset/power on/off the system from the IPMI.

Also I don't think there are any destkop PSUs that provide 2x 8-pin EPS12V connectors.
The server PSUs from that old era of the X9 can be found very cheaply, so just use those. E.g. PWS-903 or 665 should work, depending on what/how many peripherals you are planning to run.
If you want to attach a bunch of disks to that board, just get a server chassis with a (redundant) PSU and PDU and backplane; this is by far the cheapest option and far better (i.e. "working") than trying to botch something togehter with desktop parts and some 'generic' backplane...

At the moment I'm using Corsair AX750 which has an extra cable for 8-pin EPS12V (two cables together) so it is not a problem. Moreover, the possibility of remotely turning on/off by IPMI does not require any particular PSU and works perfectly with desktop once.

What I'm wondering about is the possibility of monitoring PSU by the JPI2C1 connector. Is it compatible with Corsair iCUE Link or does it require Supermicro branded PSU?

It is possible to use a desktop PSU such as the Corsair RM1000e. Now since many PSUs share the same connectors for PCIe and CPUs, it is far easier to find a power supply for a multiprocessor machine. I have been using desktop PSUs with all of my Supermicro boards with no compatability issues.

1) Unlikely: the mainboard expects the pdb/psus to use a specific address. the corsair very likely will use another address
2) Not really, but I would expect that supermicro keeps their stuff compatible over multiple generations

I had to lookup "eps12v" :D
I have multiple be quiet psus that have 2 cpu cables with 8 pins, visually I don't see any difference to eps12v. The oldest one is from late 2011/early 2012

e.g. any Corsair Modular PSUs can be equipped with 2 or more EPS instead of PCIe cables.
i rewired the included PCIe ones to EPS, you need just the conns and the Unplug Tool.

Or just order additional modular cables from the trusted source such as CableMod. I did that when creating my dual CPU workstation (it needed at least 3 8pin EPS cables). As an added bonus they look cool :)IMG_0374.jpeg
