Is there a maximum size set for uploading .jpg files?

What is the preferred image hosting site if we are linking inside a post?

I tried to use imgur with a public link and it just shows a box with a red X.

Are you sure you linked directly to the image link, and not the Imgur album? It doesnt even need to be a Public link. It works fine with hidden links, as long as you have the correct URL.

Upload the file.

Set your cursor where you want the image to be implemented and select 'Thumbnail' or 'Full Image' ...

That's it. Imgur deletes your files after a specific time if you are not a subscriber and your linked images get lost.
