In light of what we know of Ryzen...

AMD R7 1700: 1410 cb
AMD R7 1700X: 1537 cb
AMD r7 1800x: 1601 cb
AMD r7 1800x @ 5.2: 2449
AMD r7 1800x single thread 162 (same as 6900k)

Post your current rig and scores.
My 1680v3 seems to be a bit retarded in this current board and downclocks on single threaded mode (or at least windows think's it does)

1680v3, 4x 4gb 2133, EPC612D4I
R15 single: 114
R15 multi: 1364

I got a bit zealous in running R15 last night... and tried 8 chips, will post them as the thread develops.

My one word of caution: Cinebench is like a perfect case benchmark for Ryzen.

That is kind of surprising given its an Intel compiled, low cas. memory bandwidth loving bench. It was like rowing up river for amd in cinebench. I guess if they made the arch intel like...

Will the 1800X go to 5ghz on air? I don't want to spend a few grand on cooling

Wait a week and see... but given that 5.2ghz was LN2... either they were shoddy overclockers, the motherboards are still early... there is a clock wall... or just no the chips don't clock high.
That is a cinebench record they set for 8c chips btw.

Perhaps they were protecting the record like I did... and have higher ones to release later... Who knows... give it a week and see.

It was running on the second CPU for single thread and only showed boost to 3.2 for a short time, most of the time at 2.7. Multi thread was at 3 most of the time.

I think I may have been in the room for that LN2 run. I was asking what the point was since it was not for 24x7 use. People were explaining that it is like a pure drag racer on a drag strip.

There is always the phase change cooling setup.... that is $300-2k Keeps your chip frosty but if you live in a humid environment expect condensation death...

I like how this pic shows the march of technology. Runs essentially the same CB as a dual X5650 at way less clock speed and I can't even imagine the power savings.

It's really about creating/beating world records and intended not for 24x7 usage.
I understand that part. I just question why you spend hours of prep, consumables and labor to get marginally more performance on short benchmarks. If you counted all of the prep/ setup work in the overall benchmark timers LN2 would be significantly slower.
