Is there such thing as a PoE-powered 2.5G switch?
There are GbE ones, such as Netgear's GS105PE (which even has pass-thru) and 10G ones like Mikrotik's CRS305-1G-4S+IN but seemingly nothing in between.
(I'm aware the Mikrotik could accept a couple 2.5G transceivers, but that's not really what I'm after.)

I would just make the jump to 10G that has 2.5Gb capabilities. I'm guessing this won't cost more. If you just do 10G you can get setup way cheaper with older stuff of eBay.

The cheap solution is using one of the 2.5 or 2.5 + 10G switches that are low power (several 5-8 port variations under 50 bucks and under 12w moderately populated, many idle around 2w unpopulated) and a PoE splitter. AFAIK it's easier to get multigig through a "gig only" splitter than an injector, but that might just be my luck :)

Thanks for the input. To be [politely] clear, 'not looking for alternatives/clever substitutes, etc. Just the question as posed: 2.5G switches powered by PoE.

I read your first question incorrectly. I've seen some 10G (probably multigig) switches that are powered by a 1G PoE input port. I'm not sure why this port is 1G PoE input while the other ports on the switch are higher speed. I think Mikrotik makes some like this.

To be [politely] helpful, if such a product exists at this current point it is going to be niche, and likely expensive to buy. IMHO you'll have more luck finding a switch with 10Gb copper as the POE in and either 10Gb copper with multigig support or just 2.5Gb copper ports. (Not all copper 10G will do 2.5Gb or 5Gb) still might be (far) more than the other solution, but it would at least be all neat and tidy.

I know you're both exchanging [polite] comments :p, but I'm just chiming in with a vote for this. I replaced a GS105PE with a splitter and a cheap 4+2 2.5g switch & the combined size of the new setup is slightly less than the GS105PE by itself.
