Hi,
I have a pair of 960GB Dell-OEM (Samsung) PM863 SATA SSDs in a non-Dell machine (Supermicro motherboard). The Dell support website has firmware for MZ7LM960HCHP00D3, says GA34 (2016-06-26) was initial release and newest is GA39 (2018-01-26). My drives are part number MZ7LM960HCHP00D6, firmware GA30. Anybody know significance of this part number difference? How safe would it be to attempt to flash the newer firmware to my drives? I haven't experienced any problems with my drives but have only begun using them. Some of the fixes in Dell's updated firmware sound like they'd be good to have: "fixes case where drive will enter error mode after power loss; numerous other bug fixes".
Thanks,
Frank
