Get out your Visio, let's see what you're working with

I really need to focus on strengthening both the performance and security of my home network. Right now all my equipment is on one LAN. I'm interested in using VLANing to separate things like NAS traffic, VOIP traffic, and Management traffic, and also creating a DMZ network segment. I'm looking for inspiration from you guys before I begin.

In case you're wondering this is what I am working with:
  • ASUS RT-N16 running Tomato (shibby, with VLAN capability)
  • 48 port Gigabit Switch semi-managed (10 year old Netgear, still kickin)
  • ESX farm which I plan on using to host virtualized pfSense instances
