Hi all,

I connect OCZ Vertex4 128GB SSD(FW 1.5) to LSI SAS 9211-8i(IBM M1015 with LSI9211 14.00 IT mode firmware), the server hanged at the searching bootable devices screen.
The server is IBM 3650M2, does anybody meet this problem?

Thanks.

Is it repeatable?

In other words:

1) No V4 connected, server boots fine

2) Connect V4, server hangs at boot

3) Disconnect V4, server boots fine

4) Connect V4, server hangs at boot

How long did you wait to see if it was really hung, or if it was just taking a long time (say, up to 2 minutes) in order to scan the SSD?

Check the boot order in the BIOS.
As the M1015 in IT mode cannot be set to boot is the BIOS trying to boot from the controller ?

Does it hang with the V4 of the Intel controller (mobo) ?

Very interesting, I have two Vertex 4 256GB drives that I just pulled from a M1015 and am using with the IBM ServeRAID M5014 without issue.

Sure, it's repeatable, I was waiting about more than 5 minutes.

I flashed this LSI SAS9211-8i IT mode(M1015)(FW 14.00.00.00) to IBM 6Gb Performance Optimized HBA(FW10.00.08.00), the average read rate got from 471MB/s to 505MB/s and IOPS got from 36350 to 39759.:)
The same hardware, diff FW, diff bandwidth.

BTW, the server can boot successfully with the Vertex4 SSD.

Great news. How were firmware initialization times with the IBM Firmware?

I download the Firmware from Ibm's fixportal, and extract the ROM format files from the binary file.

I tuned some parameters in linux kernel, reach 69.4K iops(4K random read) and 111K iops(512B random read), a littel bit lower than 90K and 120K iops released in OCZ product paper, maybe reach the limit of the card or may not.
