I have used the wax630 for over a year and it's been rock solid, so this should be fine.

Make sure to select the option for the included power adapter and use promo code "game10" for the additional 10% off.

Sale ends June 25.

Tempting to replace my old RT-AC68U (old T-mobile personal cell spot flashed with Merlin), wondering if it's worth it. Tempting!

How much is that Netgear Cloud management thing going to cost? I can't imagine them not charging a recurrent subscription for it...

Last I checked it was $10 per AP per year - it's optional but the built in HTTP interface is horrendously slow, almost like they made it awful to use on purpose for some reason, and you can't get 802.11r without the cloud nonsense.

I like the price, but I don't like that it's only 2x2 in the 6ghz range. 2x2 6ghz seems like they are cutting the potential performance off at the knees. I'd rather have 4x4 in the 6ghz and 2x2 in the 5ghz range, but this AP is opposite of that.

I'm I crazy for thinking this? Obviously I am looking for performance today, but I also don't want to have to "upgrade" in a couple of years either. What are people's thoughts on the 2x2 6ghz band?

Don't waste your hard earned coins. 6E is already being made obsolete with 7.
Take advantage of the rubes paying a premium to leap on the latest technology for bragging rights, who are selling their WiFi 6 kit for 1/10th the price of new.

Most clients I managed to look up are 2x2, so I'm not sure that a 4x4 would benefit those.

My personal assessment is that nothing replaces a hardwired connection where needed. If I can get close to gigabit speeds over wifi for the other use cases, that's fine for me.

I agree with this to an extent. Wifi 5 is certainly at this stage where the second hand market will offer some good bargains.

But Wifi 7 hasn't been widely adopted by the masses as yet to make Wifi 6E equipment that cheap on the second hand market.

Also, with the prices of Wifi 7 equipment I've been seeing lately, it may be sometime again before people start dumping their Wifi 6E equipment. For reference, the Netgear Wifi 7 SMB AP (WBE758) has a msrp of about $700.

But who can really tell which way the market may gonin the future?

Mostly because I'm annoyed with these WAX630E APs and I want 802.11r so my phone stops randomly dropping wifi for 60 seconds at a time, plus 10GBaseT so I can get rid of the 2.5G stuff stuck to my switches, I'm already upgrading to wifi 7 with $200 TPLink Omada APs. The EAP773 is only $190 (without DC adapter, but they're super generic, I'm running them off the cheap adapters I got to run the Netgear APs, at the time the version with the bundled adapter cost something like $100 more,) they're a little smaller (the WAX630E is huge,) and they work with a free local controller.
