This is my current recommended switch for anyone getting 10Gbase-T Xeon D nodes for a home lab. Absolutely awesome.

Does this have their Adobe Air-based GUI or is it a true web GUI? The older version of this switch used Air, and by default the installation CD wanted to install an ancient, insecure version of Air.

What would be great is if it ran the same Fastpath OS as the GS110TP. That's the same OS as the Quanta switches. The GS110TP doesn't have an actual serial console port on the case (the hardware is partially present on the board) but it does have a Telnet server listening on a non-standard port.

Personally I'd be waiting for the successor to something like the S3300's - 4xSFP+/copper combo ports and some GbE copper would be my ideal scenario to replace my current M4100-D12G. New silicon in use here suggests it might be possible to do that with passive cooling... or at least no fan running most of the time.

The review is confusing me a little though... these two statements seem at odds with one another:
the Netgear XS708T idles at around 30w (with short 3M cables)
...
Idle: 15.8w
Maximum observed: 29.1w
Does the ~16W figure mean idling with no cables plugged in, or with cables plugged in and no traffic...?

@EffrafaxOfWug Typo thanks. Idle with short cables.

@Terry Kennedy there are two options. Easier/ better to just use the web UI.

The Adobe AIR application is useful for doing basic IP address config/ password reset/ discovery but for everything else you will use the web UI. Ships with an AIR v4 install that auto updates to v22. Yikes! Did not mention the AIR because it is not really needed at this point.

The GS110TP and XS712T have an undocumented telnet interface on tcp 60000, I'm curious if these new switches do too. I can put up with the GUI but I know some network admin types that won't.

This did not work.

Hadn't done it with putty before but I just checked and putty telnet to 60000 works on a GS110TP. Thanks for checking, and I'd also be interested in a tcp port scan to see if they killed it or just moved it.
