I am on Server 2016 Essential.

I came across this article om SMB's in windows. Should I consider following the instructions to disable SMB1 to enable SMB2/3?

you should disable SMB1 on windows server 2016 unless you have a client (windows 7 - cough) that needs it to talk to the server.
