Hi Everyone,
Just booted my build of dual epyc 7742 (870 each) with a H12DSI-N6 MB. Ram was 256 - 128GB for 245. It is amazing to build a 128 core 256 thread monster for less that $2300 especially when i sold my threadripper 3970x for 2350 6-8 months ago. It seems Cinebench might have issues with 256 threads and not sure about windows 11 pro for workstation is efficiently managing it.

I do have it setup as 8 NUMA nodes for better latency but will try again with NS1.

Are you sure the ram is seated right? 256 + 32GB? You may be loosing some performance on uneven numa nodes.

The windows scheduler is typically broken with more than 2 numa nodes. I recommend trying process lasso (Bitsum. Real-time CPU Optimization and Automation), it may be a game changer.

btw; do you have open space above? / i.e. blowing air outside from top?

i have the Obsidian Series 1000D Super-Tower Case https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categ...Series-1000D-Super-Tower-Case/p/CC-9011148-WW which has 3 120m fans above. The ram is mix size with 16GB & 32GB.

i will test with a 2 Numa nodes.

That potentially impacts performance.

Try process lasso, with 4 numa nodes, and 2 numa nodes. People used process lasso to deal with first threadripper issues before.
It makes day-night difference on some quad-cpu servers.

wasn't there also a issue with more than 64 logical processors ? (long = 64bits)
No, i never heard about that one though.
Most i've seen on the server was 48c/96t on dual cpu r640. It didn't have issues with scheduler for its use case.
