Since this is a little box in the lab I wanted to start a discussion.
I got mine on Amazon last week Amazon.com: MikroTik RB750Gr3 hEX 880MHz Dual Core 256MB 5xGb USB L4: Computers & Accessories and have been testing since.
Overall the pricing was in the $60 range making it affordable. It has the newer RouterOS installed with features like OpenVPN "light" (e.g. lacking in compression support.)
Power consumption thus far has been under 3W.
I did have one, very strange, incident. I unplugged a cable on a different subnet and then somehow an interface started broadcasting 192.168.88.0/24 DHCP addresses, which was turned off prior to the cable removal.
Has anyone ever seen anything like this? I know it happened because a new HPE server had its iLO port grab a 192.168.88.x address when it was hooked onto the main network (not on 192.168.88.x)
