I was looking for the baby version w/ 8 ports or so, I'd have to look at my notes or pull up my WTB thread to see the exact model (5022 maybe). Embarassing that the full size switches cost less than the mini one. Built-in SNM is a plus though.

i'm also still on the 5022 for my san, reliable and easy besides the sm that needs to run somewhere. Have two deployed and one in the lab currently.

There is a very neat rackmount-kit that puts two next to each other in 1u, seller dbstocks from Israel has it listed on eBay.

I would go for 6036 for the fact that they could split QSFP to 4x SFP+ - so no need for another set of switches (and their power consumption)

yes, guess they call it ,Ethernet licence' or so sometimes. Part of the ,Problem', if i dont get two until my IS5022 become too small i'll most likely go for lb6m's + something like the 5035 or 4036 - Even if nonsense in terms of small footprint ...

I upgraded from a IS5022 8 port having the subnet manager is very nice plus the IS5035 is short depth and is not much louder.

yes, i was thinking about it, too. but as i run 2x is5022 as two separate fabrics with mutlipath behind for ha/failover and still fine with the 2x 8 ports this would more than double the power-draw ...

and, after all, sm(s) on the hosts are not that much of a burden to justify this ... if they could split to 10GBit SFP+ and/or i would run out of ports that would be a strong Argument...

also, the price is really nice, so instead of 5022 as a new buy they are certainly a reasonable option ..

So, i had some time to check it, power consumption is around 48-50w idle.

But the Fabric MGMT is greyed out , need to install a licence. is that free ? where to get it ?

Yes, you do need a license key. The basic license is available in a pull out tab below the USB interface. The key itself is on the bottom side of the pull out tab.

Refer to page 12/13 of the user manual for details / diagrams : http://www.mellanox.com/related-docs/user_manuals/IS50XX_user_manual.pdf

Once you get the key, you can install it by going into Setup->Licensing and 'Add New License(s)'.

Hope that helps.
