I have 3 HP G6 proliant servers that I use at home. I recently bought two Mellanox Connect X2 cards (single 10gbe port) and a single Brocade 1020 (dual 10gbe ports). I have put them in my servers, but I have still not purchased 2 cables yet.
I have been reading today that the Brocade 1020 will not function with a passive twinax cable. However, the Mellanox seem to work with anything.
I have looked on Fiberstore, and in the chat they mentioned that their passive cable should work. Is this the case? Or do I have to buy an active cable? If an active cable is required, I figure I might be better off just purchasing 2 of these fiber SR transceivers to put in the Brocade: Brocade 10G-SFPP-SR 10GBASE-SR SFP+ Module - $16 and two more to put in the Mellanox?
