Hello,

Have a deal for about 250€ for an HP Internal Ultrium 3000 LTO-5 with 3 cartridge LTO5.
I have a "server" made from a Dell T1700 with a E3-1240Lv3 and 32Gb with Proxmox installed on it.

At the moment in disk perspective there is :
=> 2 Crucial BX300 120Gb for the OS Only in RAID1 (MDADM)
=> 2 Crucial MX300 275Gb for some VMs in RAID1 (MDADM)
(Plan to replace those 2 275 since I have some database with a lot of write)
(All of these are on the motherboard)
=> 3*4Tb Toshiba N300 in RAID5 (MDADM)
(These 3 puppies are on a random 5 Sata ports PCIe Card)

I need information about which way i could connect the LTO Drive in this machine.
I could consider buying a HBA in order to replace the SATA Port PCIe Card and migrate the 3 (4Tb) disk to it.
Could I use something like : https://****/2OY8MyH and put the 3 4Tb on these cable ?

Could you give me some reference ?

Thanks in advance,

Hi thefurax,

the link you gave is not working/not visible.
If we asume LTO5 drive is SAS2 (not FC), you will need SAS HBA (non-RAID) version.

Hello again,

1) the cable is SAS to SAS i assume- it should work with your drive
2) never tried to combine SATA drives and Tape drive on the same controller, so i cannot confirm, but i belive it should work

Just use LSI HBA in IT mode :)
I have same drive, but external one and i use it with Dell H200E controller, it works flawlessly, but i don't have HDDs attached to the same HBA.
