LSI MR 9240-8i and R710 - no boot drives

I flashed my 9240 with the 9211 it mode firmware and when I startup a usb install of anything they are seen but after I install, lets say proxmox, then I restart and try to boot there are no hdd's in my boot list on the r710. Is this normal? do i need to boot off a usb for the main os? or do I need to flash IR or/or flash the bios?

I figured this out:

Apparently I needed to flash the bios. Once i did that it noticed there were drives to boot from and it started just fine.
