I own an ASUS ProART X870-E motherboard, for which a Broadcom 9500 8i controller was suggested. I bought this item to create two RAID 1 array on Win 10.
I upgraded Windows to the last version and also upgraded the controller firmware. I installed all the drivers and then the LSI Storage Authority Software.
Unfortunately the controller put all my disks (SSD and HD, what a bad idea) in a JBOD array that i can't change, as the Dashboard does NOT show the "Configuration" option.
I am a final user but I'm not a company employee so I am forbidden (!!!) to contact Broadcom support.
What can I do? I'm getting crazy, I've been stuck on this issue for a month...
Thank you in advance for help!

Neither LSI Authority and MegaRAID Storage Manager "make" a RAID array, they simply provide a GUI front end for the card to be used in Windows, Linux, etc.
They simply access the cards settings.
They can do no more than can be done in the card's bios.
They can't make a card something it isn't.
This is your first controller card, isn't it?

Thanks, but I have used hardware controller from fifteen years. First IoCrest RAID controllers, then the HighPoint 840 ones. With both I could see a configuration screen during the POST, and beside this i could always modify the arrays from Windows.
Whith the Broadcom controller I don't see anything during the post, nor I am able to recall a configuration screen with a key combination. No useful option I found in the UEFI advanced window. Furthermore the LSI Authority software doesn't give me any useful option.
In the third link that you have kindly indicated to me it is written that 9500 8i controller can create RAID arrays type 0, 00, 1, 10, 5, 50, 6, 60.

Do you suggest me another sofware to create a hardware array? I'm using also Linux, which doesn't accept software RAID.
Maybe I got the wrong software? I tried to use this: Windows_LSA_8_7-008.007.011.000.zip after upgrading the firmware with 9500_8e_Pkg_P34_MIXED_FW_BIOS_UEFI and the driver with ItSas35_Windows10_11_Windows_Server_2019_2022_2025_P34.

Using an Asus motherboard, you will find the configuration page(s) for the 9500-8i in the Asus bios pages in the storage section.
In the third link that you have kindly indicated to me it is written that 9500 8i controller can create RAID arrays type 0, 00, 1, 10, 5, 50, 6, 60.
Please point out on what page you think you see this?

Oh no... I apologize! You were right Micro... I realized it after changing my glasses! What a shame..
My error started in the ProArt-X870E ASUS webpage, where they wrote "RAID" in the suggested controllers, even for the 9500 8i one.

But.. can I ask you something more? Could you tell me how to unmount the JBOD array and make the disks free?
Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I do not have any 9500-8i's, nor any LSI, Avago or Broadcom HBAs, so I can't give you specifics.
But it should be covered in the User Guide for whatever LSA version you are using, and in the guide (or links to) that came with the card.

Unless the behavior of LSI/Broadcom HBAs has changed dramatically from the 93xx line, there is no "array" created. The disks are just marked as JBOD, or in some other way to say they are not in an array. Each disk would be seen by the OS as a separate drive.

Try something like lsblk to see the drives from a Linux command line.

Thanks nabsltd, this sounds good!
Indeed i found no way to unmount a "jbod array" in LSI Authority. I installed StorCli but the program did not recognize the command
"/cs set jbod off" and the small variations of it that I tried, even though that command was listed in the help.
I was annoyed as my disks contains a lot of backup data.

storcli /cs set jbod off should fail miserably on any system.

Since you have only one controller, the correct syntax for you would be: storcli /c0 set jbod off

But, my LSI HBAs do not support any JBOD-related storcli commands, as HBAs have no way to enable or disable JBOD, because the concept only applies to RAID cards. On an HBA, all drives are technically JBOD, in that they are directly accessible to the system.

Again, try the lsblk command in Linux, and it should list the drives.

I was annoyed as my disks contains a lot of backup data.
And that data should be safe unless you specifically told the controller to erase the drive. LSI HBAs do not write anything to the drive on they own. Modern LSI RAID cards don't write data on their own anymore, either. When the RAID card sees a foreign disk, it categorizes it as either "JBOD" or "unconfigured good", depending on the card settings. This doesn't write anything to the disk...it just puts info into the database on the card.
