Can two controllers be a mirrored of each other.

For instance the first controller has 4 sas ssd in a raid 0 array and the second controller has an 4 sas ssd in a raid 0 array and the contollers perform a raid 10 function working together between the two controllers ?

If this will work, and I am pretty sure that in the past it did with duplexed controllers, I can spread the band with between 2 pciex8 version.3.0 ports.

If anybody has any comments that would be great.

Thanks,
Rob

This would only be possible in software, not hardware. You would run RAID 1 across the 2 volumes.

Broadcom, lsi, avago needs to make a 12gb sas raid controller that has an x16 pcie interface so that the drives do not over run the capacity of the motherboard interface. I have always used sas 15k spinners and am wanting to try out sas ssd in a production environment running rocky 9.2 for a server. With a PCIE X8 3.0 motherboard interface I figure 8 disks in a raid 10 or possible a raid 5 array would over run the pcie 3.0 x8 interface on the the motherboard3. It is a Supermico H11SSL and it has pcie version 3 slots.

Thanks for the comment. Robert

they make pcie 4.0 x16 controllers, look at 9600 series, we have sevral, they are drasticly faster

9341 is quite horrible or SSD, extremly limited, and you never reach disk potentials, good news bad news, but your bus isnot the limiting factor :D

allthough honestly, Id rather run ZFS with rocky with SAS ssd's

Thanks for the tip. It looks like the 9670W-16i is the one that I need. It looks pretty future proof for the next several years as well.
The only bad thing is it doesn't look like it is out in the supply chain yet or I just have not found any for sale.
