no kidding HP uses the honour system and it's per server licensing. got 10 P420's in a server? that's one license.

Plus P420/1gb FBWC are way cheaper on a monumental scale.

Wowowo..HP Smart Array Advanced Pack 2.0, HP SmartCache, and all you have to purchase separately.

The following operating systems are supported by the HP SSD Smart Path feature:

Microsoft Windows 2008 Server
Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 Server
Microsoft Windows 2012 Server

Looks like a lot more worse than LSI...LOL

HP SAAP 2.0 and HP Smartcache are equal. Buy either and get the features of both. Literally they are the same thing.

It is supported by all operating system since it is transparent. ESXi 5.1 definitely.

If you know how ILO licensing works, you may understand what i'm trying to say...

Plus you know you get support for the card. The grey market LSI cards, good luck when it dies and takes the key with it. You won't get any warranty and will lose the cachecade key..

To my understanding if you don't get the HP card with any HP server or from HP directly, it would be worse than any "grey market" cards.
LOL with ILO licensing

Your understanding is wrong. Authorized channel resellers may sell them however they may only be supported in an HP server. Of course if you know HP jedi knight way of support (it's dead, no light, dead, no power, dead, dead, dead) they will rma should the need be.
