This came up over at HN:

“So far, per-watt and relative to the amount of I/O, Zen 2 Low-power is already more efficient than anything Apple has put out so far.
So I don't think it would have that much of an impact.”

I asked the op for benchmarks but this is news to me: I mean they’re different architectures but if you could I guess run geekbench in both or some benchmark that runs on both archs I guess that would make sense.

He did say relative to IO so maybe some funny calculations here or just making figures suit what they want.
I would be super surprised if this was the case since Apple is already way in front of other ARM designs and I haven’t seen people suggest that Xen2 is doing more work for less power.

maybe some specific instruction but that’s not a fair comparison.

Interested to hear the background to this.

and also interested to see what Apple releases as their first A-series CPU systems soon
