so currently i have a ryzen r5 3600 with a 5700XT GPU and honestly im sick of paying to have it turned on 8-9 hours a day while i work. currently with 2 monitors its averaging about 120W. 80-90 of that is the machine its self and thats alot to play youtube, spotify, mahjong and a bit of command and conquer on steam

no matter what i do i cant get it to draw any less so i want something to replace it with

needs low idle consumption space for 2 nvme and a 2.5 preferably and be fairly small mitx or smaller as im sick of having a mid tower case taking up space

i keep looking at all the usff stuff and there are so many different models then cpu options

i do also use vmware workstation for a bit of lab work but few and far between these days.

oh i run Mint as an OS

any suggestion of directions to look

I have a HP Elitedesk Mini G9 with an Intel i5-12500T CPU. It can take optional add on NICs (2.5gbe and 10gbe), comes with 2 NVMe M.2 slots and a 2.5 inch SATA bay. I have it loaded with 64gb of RAM. I use it to run Proxmox and it idles at about 9 watts. I think any of the HP minis with a 35 watt CPU would be fine. I think the suggestion of the NUC style PCs is a good one but you may have a hard time finding one that has two NVMe slots and a 2.5 inch drive bay

I am looking at one of these as my next mini server, but it doesn't have a 2.5 inch bay: https://www.gmktec.com/collections/...be.collection_1.5&spm_prev=..index.header_1.1

there is a decent looking 600 g9 with the 12500 for less than £300 that doesnt seem bad. suppose i need to check if the bios has an admin password on it though
