Dell has a part, the DSS FE1. It has a PCIe switch and allows you to put 20 M.2 NVMe SSDs into a double-width PCIe x16 slot.

Does anyone know what the part number for this is?

I see configured units for $15K-25K list but I wonder if there is an unpopulated option.

2 of these in my server would replace all of my spinning storage...

assuming that it would work on a Supermicro MB and just use 1.6 TB m.2 SSD...

$27K each is a bit steep for the card and 20 * 1.9TB SSD's...

@Patrick

See if this works:

Part #: 788W8
Part Desc.: ASSY,CRD,M.2X5,PCIE,FE1,V2
Def. Comp.: Controller Card

It was a part number within XDV3W, separating the 3.8TB M.2s and screws,
Its under only these two families: POWEREDGE XE7440 Sled and POWEREDGE XE2420.

I actually saw your video and registered here to reply :D

and that part is under $600 and based on the price list I posted earlier, what @DanRaddo posted might also be NRTYR
I checked the Part Number NRTYR and its listed under PowerEdge C4140. Although.. it serves the same functionality.

From my understanding, XE7440 is the half-width blade in XE7100 chassis. Part 788W8 does fit in this umbrella.

You need to contact Dell Spare Parts Dept, ask for a quote for part #VK911.
You won't locate this item online anywhere. Good luck..
