SuperMicro 6039P-E1CR16H 3U Flexbay Barebone Server w/ X11DPH-T 2x 1200W PWS | eBay I think that's the chassis you need, you can probably sell that X11 board for around $250, or just add another $250 for a pair of Xeon Gold 6132 CPUs and 256GB of DDR4. Either way there's still no power for GPUs, so that'll be something to figure out.
Thanks, the motherboard dimensions are (Dimensions • 13.68" (L) x 13.05" (W) (347.47 mm x 331.47 mm)). The 6039P appears to have space for a

motherboard. Seems it is a bit to small.
I may have to come up with a custom case out of sheet aluminum to get the mounting holes correct. I know someone who has access to a press brake and might be able to put something together which will work. It's kludge but I don't see a workaround at this point.

You did give me an idea though, I checked on ebay and found a case with a matching motherboard. That should work. Thanks for the idea to use ebay.

Note that chassis won't fit full height PCIe cards so your GPUs are probably not going to work. The 6039 system may not be configured for an EEATX board but there's an extra inch of space next to the EATX board and usually Supermicro stuff can be reconfigured with different standoffs and such.

You won't fit a GPU in that however. Really, how is a $250 system not better than any chassis you've encountered? What other components do you have? I bet it's cheaper to go newer.

Ill probably have to use a PCIe extender ribbon cable to an external GPU case or perhaps find a way to mount it sideways.

If there was a way to move the CPU/RAM to another compatible motherboard then I could use that instead.

Newer CPUs are practically free and RAM is cheap. What do you have that you are so eager to use?

How about we approach this by asking what your needs are and what your budget is? Do you need the PCIe lanes and/or RAM capacity of 2011-0? Is the use case a CAD desktop workstation, or a ML batch server, or Plex transcoding, etc.?

Keep in mind each of the $20 CPUs that fit in that X11 board are about as powerful as any two you could put in an X9 board, DDR4 still isn't cheap like DDR3 is but you should be able to find it a bit under $1/GB, not exactly bad.

Ive priced newer components and they are out of reach. The motherboard has 4Tb of ram, which is mainly what im after.

This is for a memory intensive mathematical computation. I would love to get more than 4Tb, but it's all I could afford.

OK 4TB of RAM is an unusual need; that certainly narrows the field. X11DP can do that, but the DDR4 cost will start to become noticeable. What CPU/compute needs? Cores over clocks? AVX512?

You have 4TB of RAM in a motherboard that supports 1.5TB at best? 256GB DDR3 DIMMs do not exist, so what you've told us so far is not adding up. Please tell me the part number on your RAM.

SHIT. I got scammed. When I checked the RAM it is only 24 x 64Gb. Damn, I told the guy I wanted 4TB and he said it would do it, which is why I bought it. It's direct from China and ive had it now for 2 weeks. Crap!!!!
Ok, never mine about this entire thread. I shot myself in the foot here.

If you really want 4TB RAM + GPU, X11DPU in 829U can do it pretty affordably. 24x DIMM for up to 6TB. If you want to stick with DDR3, you'd have to scale out to multiple nodes (which is probably a good thing for your application in the long term anyway).

You can get a 4TB system (chassis, board, memory, CPUs) which will fit 2 dual slot GPUs for ~$2k (or ~$3k with 6TB), but it's going to be old, loud, and power hungry. If that doesn't dissuade you, can show you what it entails.

that is not a bad deal for a medium capacity LFF barebones with the rear 2.5 in an 836 no less.
I picked up one of these cases (very close to this version) that was configured as a JBOD array. so it does not have the 2 drive bays at the rear. I thought about adding one in, but decided it wasn't worth the effort for something I might not even use. That said, I did cram the same board in the case. But I ripped out the fan wall and put in 3 120mm fans in its place. frees up a little bit of room. Two dynatron B11 3u heat sinks help quiet it down considerably as well.
