I recently received two Isilon X210's.
My plan was to make one of them a TN server, but there are a few problems;
It uses about 180W when idling, blasting fans at full. If I pull the fans, it's on about 100W (no disks). Still too much.
Ideally, it'd idle at around 30W + drives.
My plan was to make one of them a TN server, but there are a few problems;
- Fan noise. Any ideas if these can be controlled via ipmitool? they are connected to a EMC sub-board that houses power distribution, fan logic, SAS-expander etc
- Power supply efficiency. Are there any newer, more efficient power supplies? these draw 10W each with the server off and motherboard disconnected.
- Is there a smart replacement for the Intel S1400FP2 motherboard that would with the same io-cutouts?
