Not a shocking surprise This is a pretty special processor but being essentially 72 atom cores in a token ring with obscenely fast bus, memory and an extended 512k instruction set the idea that the master node could run esxi doesn't seem like a stretch it's more a question of why you would want to.

In hpc you are trying to squeeze out overheads, pipeline like crazy and get as embarrassingly parallel as possible.

That is not a Xeon Phi as a FYI. I sent a note about this to the seller but they disregarded.

Here is a Xeon Phi that I installed in the data center earlier today:

You can see the close double-notch pattern.

The double notch (see far corners in that CPU shot) is on HPE, Lenovo and Supermicro LGA 3647 motherboards I have seen.
