Usually all 2nd Gen Skylake CPU's shall support for Optane Persitent Memory. However, as I got Optane sticks very cheap and my 3245m + 3265m do not support Optane Memory sticks, I would like to learn more and get a cheap QS of the 2nd Gen. I just can't find any specs sheets confirming that the 8259CL or 8260C/L/M QS versions still have the Optane feature included. Does someone have experience with it these QS together with Optane?

Also, as this is my first experience with these kind of Optane memory sticks, I'm not sure the BIOS messages are seen because the CPU does not support Optane Memory or if the sticks are really 'not functional'. Or can a BIOS mod be an issue here?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks but the Xeon W's are not my issue and I knew this. It's about the messages and if QS versions also support these Optanes. Also question was, do I see the sticks as 'non functional' because of the CPU not supporting them (again .... I knew this) or are they broken?

no way. QS are same than Prod.unit except the ES bit.
replace the Optane with RDIMMs and see if the channel is working then.
Just why 'no way'? Sorry, but you are really not helpful here. 2 comments down you point me to a sale where someone writes ES's work.
replace the Optane with RDIMMs and see if the channel is working then.
That's what I did but does not lead to a conclusion. Message is the same no matter which channel  Otherwise I would not have asked here. Don't want to entertain anyone just for fun with 'bla-bla' questions.

No no no ... just leave it, please. Xeon 8260(C/L/M? are Cascades already ... Intel® Optane™ Persistent Memory Supported >>> Yes. My question was, if somebody knows if QS also support it.

Thanks case closed.

I was able to make optane persistent dimms working on my Asus C621E WS SAGE with two 8268 ES chips. But on Asrock EPC621D8A with the same chip it refused to work in the same manner as you shown. Same CPU, same modules - no idea why they work on Asus and refused to work on AsRock.

Thank you. I received other confirmation today that almost all Cascade Gold & Platinum Xeons ES/QS even the C/V/L/M versions have the feature still enabled. Even the 'strange' CPU's you have almost no info for, like 8222 as an example. So it comes back to the point, CPU vs motherboard

Yes. 8259CL supports Optane DCPMM. Tested on ASRock EPC621D8A

Which board are you using? ASRock is a little bit.. weird when it comes to DCPMM o_O

EPC621D8A also needs a jumper to be set differently for NVDIMM. It's in the manual.
Well... not really. Manual is REALLY bad in that regard.

It's just mentioned in the jumper list (page 7, "Support NVDIMM Jumer" (yes, the typo is in the manual)) and in 2.6 "Jumper Setup" page 21 as "NVDIMM Support Jumpers" - I would have expected a more prominent warning / note somewhere, or a note in the "Troubleshooting" section..
But The "Troubleshooting" section also mentions "Use recommended DDR3 1600/1333/1066 non ECC, unbuffered DIMMs" and we all know that ASRock is ASRock and their support (both manuals and if you open a case) just plain sucks.
