Intel X710-DA2 deals

I am working on a piece comparing several generations of 10Gbase-T, 10Gb SFP+ and 40GbE adapters from Intel. During the process, I saw the X710-da2's that were relatively inexpensive at $250/ea:

Just as a comparison power wise, dual X520-da2 use over 3x the power of a single X710-da4 If you are looking for the quad SFP+ $300+ shipping two available: Intel X710DA4FHBLK Ethernet Converged Network Adapter Quad-Port 10GbE Low profi | eBay

Saving 5-10 watts is likely not worth the upgrade, but thought folks would be interested.

the xl710-da2 also seems to be an excellent card and we have good luck with them. doesnt look like too many in circulation, hence the deals are pretty rare and it seems like normal/retail pricing is around ~500 apiece.

one of the cool things about the x710-da4 is that it gives you those ports in a lp format, which from a design and technology perspective is pretty darn cool.

Thanks Patrick--I'd love to see a write up of the differences. Specifically the x710 to the x520. Looking at intel's site there would appear to be little if nothing different.

One thing I ran into with the X710 instead of the X520 is that they use different drivers - i40e instead of ixgbe. Intel also started locking down the acceptable optics with the new driver. Something to watch out for.
