Hi..I'm trying to build a 36 SATA HDD setup based on SAS motherboard + SAS controller (if needed) + SAS expander...
But due to limited server motherboard availability in my country (and very little information about this setup)
i need to know which motherboard is compatible to my SAS expander selection..

After some googling i found HP SAS expander and Intel RES3CV360 seem to be the favourable choice..
I don't mind importing the SAS expander and controler, but i need to know which motherboard works for them..
So far The server motherboard available in my country are :

Intel :
-------
Intel® Server Board S2600CP2 http://ark.intel.com/products/56333
Intel® Server Board S1200V3RPS Specifications
Intel® Server Board S1200V3RPL Specifications

Supermicro :
-------
Supermicro | Products | Motherboards | Xeon® Boards | X9DRH-7F

1. I read HP SAS expander is only compatible with LSI SAS 2008, while the newer supermicro mobo uses LSI 2208, would they be compatible?
2. Does Intel RES3CV360 have bad reviews or something? because i find very little information about it
3. PROVANTAGE: Intel RES2CV360 36 Port Expander 6G SAS-for 2.5 inch Drives Related Products I read there it's for 2.5 drive,.. does that mean 3.5 drive is not supported?
4. Which setup is better? Intel or Supermicro? Thanks
