I have a xeon e3 1245v5 . Planning to use in the above motherboard. But I'm no expert on enterprise gear. I know the processor can take regular non ecc ram but does the motherboard require it?

That's what I feared. Any idea where and how to get ecc udim whiteout paying more than the platform is worth

DDR4 ECC UDIMM is very expensive right now. If you need 128 GB+ you can afford a registered platform from the savings on memory.

Does anyone know whether it's expected for PCIe Slot 5 (connected to PCH) to not work if all 8 SATA ports are in use? My M.2 NVME via a PCIe adapter on this slot works fine when no SATA ports are connected but disappears once populated.
