Probably related to the i9-12900k + 900p 280GB SSD deal, someone is selling a whole bunch (12 it appears) of these for just a 100 USD:

As far as I can tell they do free shipping within the US (shipping to EU doesn't look too bad either).

EDIT: You can find them even cheaper, like this listing that only does shipping to the US:

Yep, I also ordered the bundle back in May. Depending on if I'll be able to sell 12900k for reasonable price, i may also be putting up my 900p for auction at 1 JPY.
Either CPU or 900p is arriving here tomorrow.

Both listing are now sold out, seems like a total of 16 cards were sold, quite impressive.

Here is another listing of 1 card @ 95 USD with free US shipping:

I've been thinking about using these as special metadata devices for a ZFS pool, but I think regular SSD's are a much better option. They are still awesome as slog though, but still at 75ea they are very expensive. For other use cases, like a multithreaded application/cache that uses rocksdb, they are awesome though.

I figured this is a decent price and it isn't like they are making more of them so there is the fomo aspect.

Yeah, but you can get 3.2TB nvme for 150 USD today. For home lab, it doesn't make any sense.
At 150usd you are even getting into the price range of 3.84tb u2/m2 stuff.

But yeah last 3.2tb cards i picked up was 130/ea, id save 10w but lose 3tb capacity and performance/durability with these instead.

I would say none, a regular nvme will offer plenty fast sync write and l2arc performance. But the biggest performance upgrade for zfs is using special metadata devices which these are overkill for. Optane is useful when you need extreme latency, and zfs can't do that. You will need ext4 or xfs

I actually ended canceling my order after sleeping on it. The 280GB is just too small for the price and I already have a couple of these already tbh.
I use them as a temp drive for the "arr stack to download and uncompress before going on rust. Also for a jellyfish cache location.

I keep thinking I have two squirrled away in a pile of papers somewhere - from my original first two optane 900p purchases. I have sold 2 and gave away 1. Maybe I'm too trusting but I was willing to let the other party try and redeem it and then pay if it worked. There was some back and forth and information exchange though to get that trust. FWIW. IDK what these are really worth now but I think the last two I got 485 each or something.
