I know it sucks for SSDs since its 3gbps but is anyone using it for rotating drives? Is it well supported? Can you do ESXi with it?

C602 boards commonly have 8087 ports, but they're connected to the SCU and aren't SAS. Pretty prevalent on Supermicro ones for example.

I'd be interested how the normal sata raid C602 works in ESXi.

The arse end of the planet
The Intel RAID (ICHR) has always been a solid performer however, this is coming from Windows based machines (I don't use or have time to support all the mixtures of non-MS and the fools who keep mixing them more).
I have feeling of Dead thread coming, OP hasn't returned. Also noted that he/she isn't aware that there should be a pair of SATA-III ports, even if he/she does have C602.
