Hi, after carefully searching internet, I found out that Supermicro X12STL/STH models do not support i3 and Celeron anymore, according to the document.

At first, I thought it was just a mistake, but the all other benders like Asus, AsrockRack also says it only support Pentium and Xeon E-2300.

It means if I want to have 4 core or more, I should buy E-2300?

No cheap Core i3 on server mobo anymore?

Supermicro/ASRock C256/C252 boards support 10th gen Pentium processors.
Pentium have only 16 PCIe lanes, some slots are not available then, no ECC.

Wait, no ECC on 10th gen Pentium? I knew Pentium G5400 had ECC. Did Intel remove ECC support from Pentium?

supports 10th Generation Intel® Core™ i9/Core™ i7/Core™ i5/Core™ i3/Pentium®/Celeron® Processor: no ECC
Intel® Xeon® W-1200 series : with ECC

Going to build firewall appliance, so C25x seems better option for me, thanks. but still in deep concern...
