Anyone else see the Avoton launch announcement? Reimagine the Datacenter

7x performance, 4x power improvement. SoC with accelerators.

Exciting since current Centerton performance is not so good.

Hmm. Interesting. Imagine what you could do with System-on-Chip designs at that speed and power profile. Then imagine them packed into a high-density packaging solution like HPs Moonshot. Especially cool if they could figure out switching to get 10Gbe to each module in a shelf and 100Gbe out the back of the package.

Could be cool. Wonder if this kind of chip is what HP was really hoping for with that design. With current gen Atoms Moonshot was pretty boring...with this it could rock.

I think PL is on the money! My hope is that Intel releases a version with an XoR engine. In pursuit of their software defined storage system would be great to have low power x86 directing to XoR engine for storage and integrated 10 gig interconnects
