I have an R710 with an H200e HBA installed. The H200e is flashed to IT mode using instructions from here and connected to an MD1200. The MD1200 is filled with 12x 3TB 7.2K SAS HD. Trying to get these drives to work in FreeNAS, or any version of Linux/Windows. When I try to access the drives in FreeNAS I get:

(da1:mps0:0:8:0): Field Replaceable Unit: 0
(da1:mps0:0:8:0): Descriptor 0x80: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
(da1:mps0:0:8:0): Retrying command (per sense data)
(da1:mps0:0:8:0): WRITE(6). CDB: 0a 00 00 00 01 00
(da1:mps0:0:8:0): CAM status: SCSI Status Error
(da1:mps0:0:8:0): SCSI status: Check Condition
(da1:mps0:0:8:0): SCSI sense: DATA PROTECT asc:20,2 (Access denied - no access rights)

Then when I try to create a vDev I get:

[MiddlewareError: b'Unable to GPT format the disk "da1": gpart: Input/output error\n']
These hard drives were previously in an Dell MD3200i SAN. I deleted the disk groups and volumes to clear the drives. I have also try to boot a VM with the H200e in passthrough mode into Partition Magic to wipe the drives with no luck.

Should I format the drives outside of the MD1200 and then put them back in?

Any suggestions on how to proceed?
