I have bought an IBM 9111-520 (Power5, AIX) but the firmware level is at SF230_145 and I want to get to the latest level so I can connect it to an HMC to create 2 LPARs. When I look up the latest firmware it has been archived. Any idea how I can download the needed firmware?

You couldn't get it from fixcentral? They should have all the FW releases listed there for download.

I tried searching for it, but can't seem to find it. Does the system need to be under warranty or under a contract?

I'm at SF230_145 can I just jump to the latest or do I have to update to each firmware level?

IIRC, there were some that required intermediate firmware levels, but I'm pretty hazy on remembering it exactly. I would just go through every one or every other one, just to be safe.

What is located on that share starts at SF230_150 my level is SF230_145 there must be some levels in between those that I would need.

They aren't released for every integer. 150 is one level above 145. So 150 would be the next. There is a method to the numbering, but I can't remember what it was. From a quick glance at the site, it seems that they have every release on there. except for maybe the last one or two ...

So I take it that you download the iso burn it and boot from the burnt disc to update the firmware? Never done this before.

Here ya go: Power5

list of all FW levels and a link to infocenter on how to install. I didn't read through it all, so let me know if you get stuck and I'll try to help.
