Just to update: I picked up an H200, flashed to IT mode, and used the originally provided SATA-SAS translator adapter through a mini-sata to SATA adapter to re-format from 528 byte to 512 byte sectors (using the Windows version of sg_utils, which surprisingly worked just fine). So that was more of an investment that I was originally expecting, but not much more, but now I have a SAS card and can deal with more weird OEM formats, so yay?
