I had planned to get some RX Vega 56's but changed my mind.

Been needing to fill up my Rosewill "Bitcoin mining" case so I went with some dedicated mining 1060's 6 gig, ordered them earlier this week.
Granted they do not have the outright hashrate of Vega gpus but they are half the price so six in the mining case instead of three Vega's.

Plus they should be cooler running in that case since its is not an open case and from what I have seen online it is not the best choice for gpu's that put out some heat.

What sold me on them is that my GTX 1080 Ti I have has been rock solid mining unlike the RX 480's I had before it, the GTX 1080 Ti is set it and forget it and the RX 480's I spent way too much time tweaking them.

Yes I plan to build a Vega 56 miner eventually, probably in a couple of months.

Pic's when I get them sometime next week.

Just curious , if you don't mind. How much are 1060 6gb?

Tonight , BH have a sale , 1050 for $99 no tax .
So wheels are turning in my head, doing math 1050 vs 1050ti vs 1060.

I have 4 RX cards, for the past 10 months. They had no crash during mining.
The con for the RX cards are power consumption for me ( $0.28 KWH )

I just check BH 1060 3gb is $180 , 6gb is $260
Is the price OK?

Best I have seen so far is $250 for 1060 6GB on egg. I was trying to decide between 2x 1060 6GB or 1x 1070 Ti. About the same price, 1060s do more per month, but 1070 Ti will be more useful after a crash.

My RX rigs are also set it and forget it, and we're talking bottom of the barrel EBAY RX 480/580 whatever is the lowest price I can get them for. (Stopped buying when they went crazy again a month ago)

The Vega 56's for me are by far the best H/$ card for Monero. When they were $399, now less so. I just bought 3 Vega 64's at $499.

Anything around 400H/$100 is pretty darned good at recent difficulty.

HANDS DOWN though, are a slew of DL385's with dual 6238's that I got for $140 landed that churn 720H/sec.

That's over 500H/$100

What is the power consumption on the dl385 though?

I can check if you want to know, but I don't bother, because our power rates are so low. That's why H/$ is so much more important.
Curious how they compare to my m620’s

Have been looking for cheap outside the box ways to grow my farm....would love to snag more Vegas but not a fan of the current pricing

The Galax P106 Gtx 1060 6gb gpu's were $283.00 total each including freight from China, bought with Monero when it was $132.00 each.

I guess I should have waited a day or two. LOL

I assume you're referring to this case:

Rosewill Server Chassis, Server Case, Rackmount Case for Bitcoin Mining; 4U Metal Rack Mount Bitcoin Miner for 6 GPU; Solution for Building a Mining Rig (RSV-L4000B) - Newegg.com

I'm interested in your thoughts about it, as well as any recommendations for the build (specific risers, etc.).

I also wonder if some of the comments about heat problems were because users aligned the case fans in a front to back airflow which fights the GPU design.

Got the GPU's in today.

The seem to be excellent quality, of course they are basic mining cards so no RGB, and they do have a bit of weight to them and feel pretty solid and not cheap.

Ordered from Cryptomined.com and payed with Monero, excellent service. He accepts ONLY crypto currency.

He has a decent youtube channel.

Sells a lot of interesting cases and lots of different pci-e risers plus other stuff like t-shirts, coins, flags ect.

Shipping was fairly quick even tho it came from China, oh about seven days total including a couple of days lead time for him to get the cards from his supplier.

Looks like they're not selling GPU cards any more (or out of stock).

I've been having issues with the first install of a P106-100 gpu in my main pc.

Installed a couple of slots down from my GTX 1080 Ti, and it went well until I tried to configure coolbits.

That hosed my Nvidia driver install so I purged it and reinstalled it but it did not work, the default wayland driver work fine but everytime I installed the Nvidia driver all I got was a black screen.

So I purged the Nvidia driver one last time and backed up everything off my pc to install Ubuntu 16.04.03.

It would install fine in UEFI but refused to boot, so I set the bios to UEFI and Legacy and was finally able to install it in legacy mode but the desktop was super slow and completely unresponsive.

WTH??!!

So update and reboot and the same thing.

So back into the bios I set the pci-e slots all the the max speed either x16 or x8 depending on the slot, always had them set to Auto until now, rebooted and now my desktop is super responsive and working again..............after TWO evenings messing with it.

I wanted to go back to 16.04.03 because I was having issues with several wallets that work fine in 16.04.03 but not work in 17.10.

So stuck it into a windows 7 pc and mining Monero it hashed at 475 H/s, kind of disappointed so updated Msi Afterburner to the latest version.

Results on the first Galaxy mining card:

Power limit: 60%
Temp Limit: 65c
Core Clock: -100
Mem Clock: +1000  my 1080Ti has issues higher that +400

So its been running for a day and a half and %100 stable at 576 H/s temp 51c and at 70 watts.

My 1080 can do ~775H/s at 58c and using 130 watts

$750 for the Gtx 1080 Ti vs P106-100 Gtx 1060 $265

Still plan to tweek it some more and test the others I plan on using.

EDIT: Playing around with afterburner,
Power limit: 50%
Temp Limit: 60c
Core Clock: -400
Mem Clock: +1000

569 H/s at 45c and 59-60watts.

Edit2 : So today sometime the miner crashed, so I backed the mem clock down a little to +900 and played around with it some more.
